Polish game developer Bloober Team has officially announced the third installment in their psychological horror franchise, Layers of Fear 3, during a special presentation marking the series’ 10th anniversary.
The announcement came through a commemorative video where company CEO Piotr Babieno expressed gratitude to fans who have supported the franchise throughout its decade-long journey. The reveal served as the culmination of the anniversary celebration, confirming what the studio had been hinting at in recent weeks.
The Layers of Fear series has established itself as a prominent name in psychological horror gaming, with the original title launching in 2016, followed by a sequel in 2021, and a comprehensive remake that arrived in 2023. Each entry has focused on exploring themes of artistic obsession and psychological deterioration through immersive horror experiences.
While specific release details remain under wraps, Bloober Team shared an atmospheric live-action trailer that sets the tone for the upcoming game. The footage showcases a mysterious figure reciting William Blake’s poem “The Sick Rose” within an ornate room filled with paintings. The trailer features disturbing imagery including portraits of a woman and a humanoid figure with a sewn mouth, alongside supernatural elements that suggest the presence of otherworldly entities. The promotional material concludes with an ominous Valentine’s Day message and the reveal of the game’s tagline: “Some Things Never Leave The Walls. They Only Learn To Wait.”
This announcement represents another significant milestone for Bloober Team, which has recently gained considerable recognition in the gaming industry. The studio achieved widespread acclaim with their remake of Silent Hill 2 for Konami, demonstrating their expertise in revitalizing classic horror properties. Additionally, they have been developing original content through their subsidiary Broken Mirror Games, including a mysterious Nintendo Switch exclusive known as Project M.
The Polish developer has been experiencing a period of notable growth and success, with recent releases such as Cronos: The New Dawn and The Medium further establishing their reputation in the horror gaming space. Layers of Fear 3 joins an expanding portfolio that includes their ongoing work on Silent Hill projects, positioning Bloober Team as a key player in contemporary horror game development.
